Influenza is a viral infection of your nose, throat and sometimes your lungs. It spreads quickly from person to person through touch and the air. Most people who get the flu recover within a week or two, but it can cause serious illness in some people.
The 2022 Influenza Immunisation Programme starts on 1st April 2022, you will be eligible for free FLU shot if you are:
- 65 years of age and over; or
- between 55 to 64 years of age (inclusive) and is Māori or any Pacific ethnicity; or
- Pregnant (any trimester)
- having chronic conditions such as COPD, diabetes, lung or heart conditions, and some other illnesses
