HOW DOES ZANTAC WORK

Zantac contains ranitidine, which is a H2-receptor blocker that relieves heartburn by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It provides long-lasting relief that starts to work in as little as 30 minutes1-3.

Antacids neutralise existing stomach acid and can work quickly however only provide a few hours of relief. Zantac provides 12-hour relief and Zantac Double Strength provides 24-hour relief from heartburn with one easy-to-swallow tablet.

Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) that are available without a prescription for heartburn relief reduce production of stomach acid in a different way than Zantac. PPIs can provide symptom relief for up to 24 hours but may take hours or even days to take effect.5 Zantac starts to work in as little as 30 minutes1-3, which may give you faster relief from heartburn symptoms compared to PPIs.
