General Information

Neocate Gold is a Food for Special Medical Purposes: a nutritionally complete, amino acid-based powdered infant formula with medium chain triglycerides (MCT), for the dietary management of infants from birth with cows' milk allergy, multiple food protein allergy, eosinophilic oesophagitis and other conditions where an amino acid-based formula is recommended. It must be used under medical supervision, after considering all feeding options including breastfeeding. It is not suitable for general use. Available on prescription.

Per 100ml at the standard concentration (13.8% w/v): energy 279kJ (67kcal), protein equivalent 1.9g, carbohydrate 7.2g, fat 3.4g (MCT 1.1g), DHA 11.3mg. Sold as a single 400g can.

Directions

As directed by a healthcare professional. The quantity of feed should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only and depends on the age, body weight and medical condition of the infant. The feeding guide on the can is a guide only.

• Wash hands, clean the preparation area and sterilise bottles and teats.
• Boil fresh water and allow to cool to lukewarm. Pour the correct amount into the sterilised bottle.
• Use only the scoop provided. Add 1 level scoop (4.6g) to every 30ml of water for the standard concentration (13.8% w/v). Do not press powder into the scoop.
• Shake well and feed immediately.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Use by the date on the bottom of the can. After opening, keep container airtight and use contents within 4 weeks. Some settling of the powder may occur.

Warnings

• Food for Special Medical Purposes. Not suitable for general use.
• For enteral use only, not for parenteral use.
• If using as a tube feed, hang time should not exceed 4 hours.
• Powdered infant formula is not sterile. Prepare immediately before feeding.
• Formula should not be warmed for longer than 15 minutes before feeding. Do not boil the formula and do not use a microwave to prepare or warm it.
• Follow the instructions for use carefully. Unnecessary or improper use may make your baby ill.
• Breast milk is best for babies. Before deciding to use an infant formula, consult your healthcare professional.
• Use only under medical supervision.
